I'm done, stick a fork in me.

I'm obviously not paying any attention to this blog anymore. There are a myriad of reasons, one of which is that I no longer feel the need to be anonymous in my beliefs. I'm older and wiser now, and possess real confidence in how I feel.

For those who may care, I still do not believe Obama is qualified for his job. I support Oregon senator Ron Wyden (D) in his quest to avoid the $1.6 trillion single-payer healthcare system Obama and company are trying to stuff down our throats. I still think Sarah Palin is a trainwreck and spells death to the Republican party if they insist upon supporting her. How can she run a country, when she can't even finish a single term as Alaska's governor? I am bitterly disappointed in Republican senator John Ensign (R). I thought you were one of the good guys John. Mark Sanford, in the words of Red Forman, is a dumbass. Resign now Mark, you make us all look bad.

I believe deeply in the pharmaceutical industry and believe the reforms being proposed will kill innovation in treatments for everything from cancer to the common cold. It is my industry and I like that I have a small role in helping people.

I believe life issues, abortion, the death penalty, and euthanasia are states rights issues and dammit we need to fight for those rights. If you truly believe they should be choices, than let the individuals choose. I am a newly born again Catholic and believe abortion is murder, the death penalty is justice for man, not God, and euthanasia is between me and God, not between me and John Ashcroft.

The gay marriage issue gets me into a lot of trouble and I don't care. I'll never support it, but once again it's a states' right issue and states' need to start listening to their citizens, whichever way the MAJORITY votes. One man, one vote. The politically correct minorities' votes should never count twice.

The idiot in Iran is still a nutjob. Imagine that? I praise the Iranian people for fighting back. They should have our full support, in my opinion that includes strategic advice and weapons. I will pray for them in their quest for freedom of the people, by the people, and for the people. Americans are descendants of those who fought the reigning king for their freedom.

GOD BLESS the soldiers, marines, sailors, and airmen of the United States Armed Forces. We are forever in your debt. I love you all.

And the topic I started my blog with...illegal immigration. All I can say is sometimes I really wish I lived in Arizona.

In the great words of Happy Harry Hard-On, in the teen classic Pump Up the Volume starring the incomprable Christian Slater...."I'm done, stick a fork in me."

Can anyone say TRAINWRECK?

Sarah Palin may easily help Obama win. Could McCain and his staff be so stupid as to believe the Republican base would over look this woman's flaws and failings? While I may be in the minority (although I doubt it) the following are the following reasons I believe McCain did the GOP a huge disservice by picking this woman as his running mate. Feminists cover your eyes.

1) She has little experience. Even VPs need just a little more experience, if with nothing else the national press. McCain just gave a plate of raw chicken thighs to a pond of crocodiles. Alaska is a great and beautiful state, but being mayor of a tiny town there and governor for 2 years hardly prepares you for the Beltway.

2) This woman is a complete disappointment as a mother. She's leaving her Downs Syndrome baby so she can be Vice President. It's one thing to follow your career when you have a kid at home (ala Bill & Hill during the AR years), but she's got 3 kids at home and one of them is mentally challenged. How can she possibly see this a good move for her kids? Perhaps she's not thinking about them.

3) Can we explore her judgement when having a fifth child at such a late age when she already had 4 healthy children? The risks are highly publicized. I'm just shocked at how a woman with so much responsibility would risk bringing an unhealthy child in the world when she knew what kind of pressures her job came with.

4) Finally, her lack of knowledge of effective birth control obviously was something she passed on because her teenage daughter is pregnant.

I had just gotten totally on board the McCain bus and now I feel like I've been thrown under it. He's completely undermined his entire campaign and I see this election being even closer than Y2K now.

I wish them luck and I will always believe McCain is a good man, who's made some bad choices. I am very sad to say that this year I'll be voting party, not man, just like in 1996. I'm looking forward to 2016, when hopefully Bobby Jindal will our guy.

Thunder in the Jungle

Oh yeah!! Ben Stiller is back bigger and better than ever. "Tropic Thunder" is one of the funniest movies I have seen in years. It was well worth the $6.25 for the matinee ticket (I can't believer that's the matinee price).

The best part of this movie is not the plot, which actually isn't bad, but the acting and actors. Ben Stiller and Jack Black are hysterical, but the Oscar worthy performances are Robert Downey, Jr. and Tom Cruise. Both are over top good, no holds barred, completely vulnerable performances. Matthew McConaughey and Nick Nolte round out the stellar comic performances. The remainder of the cast is awesome!!!

Keep your eye for cameos by Tobey Maguire, Jon Voight, and Lance Bass, of all people.

My only disappointment, however, was that I didn't see Jerry and Anne, Ben's parents. They did such a great job in "Zoolander" I was hoping Ben would bring them back.

Go see it, you won't be sorry.

Where did the years go?

I'm watching "Can't Buy Me Love" and thinking about how Ronald Miller (Patrick Dempsey) is now Dr. McDreamy and his brother Chuck (Seth Green) is Dr. Evil's son. Paula Abdul did the cheerleader choreography for this movie. How crazy is that? In 20 years, these three people are in completely different places.

I see the commercials for the new lawyer show with Zack from "Saved by the Bell". His boy Mario Lopez is also still doing well as tabloid eye candy. I first fell in love with Reese Witherspoon in "Man in the Moon" along with the guy who played her dad Sam Waterston. Matthew Fox, resident wuss on "Lost", was a furry slacker on "Party of Five" over ten years ago. Ten years ago Jennifer Garner was guest starring on then hubby, Scott Foley's show "Felicity" and now she's a major box office star married to Ben Affleck.

Ten years ago or more I loved Kyra Sedgewick's quirky little character parts in "Singles" and "Something to Talk About" and now I'm thrilled to see her as the leading lady in the "The Closer". Her co-star JK Simmons, "Chief Pope", is probably best known for being the shrink on "Law and Order" for years and most recently for playing the dad in "Juno". Who can forget GW Bailey (Lt. Provenza)from the Police Academy movies and as the goofball security guard in Mannequin.

Twenty years ago you can catch a glimpse of Matt Damon in "Mystic Pizza" in a scene with Julia Roberts. Ten years ago he appeared with her at equal status in "Ocean's Eleven".

And don't even get me started on the cast of "In Living Color". They all exploded in the last 20 years.

So they better now or then? I personally liked Paula better when she was singing. I hated Jennifer Garner on "Felicity" and didn't really care for "Alias", but "13 Going on 30" won me over. I'm glad Reese is box office gold. You could see she would be a big star in "Man in the Moon". No one else would have made Jack McCoy last this long. I will always love Sam Waterston. Matt won me over with Jason Bourne and definitely looks better all grown up. Didn't like Matthew Fox then and don't like him now.

The fact we still know these people says something about their talent and longevity. It'll be fun to see who resurfaces next. Maybe I should tune into the cheesy "90210" remake and find out. LOL

Fred Thompson: Our Next Defense Secretary

I was in tears after reading this column by Fred Dalton Thompson. He has a firm grasp on the reality of world politics. The reason I started crying was because I was thinking of the prospect of having President who is eager to sit down with the mad man in Iran plotting the end of the nation of Israel, but phobic about sitting down with Sean Hannity, a mere American talk show host. As Fred says, "the next American President is going to face an international landscape that is more difficult and treacherous than we have ever faced", but Obama doesn't seem to get that. Nutjob in Iran isn't difficult, he's not treacherous, he can be reasoned with, but Sean Hannity he's treacherous. He could do really damage to Obama's run at Homecoming King in November.

Here's Fred's round up of the current and future political landscape:

So let’s recap: international terrorism; powerful nation states on a quest for hegemony, whether close to home or further afield and with a willingness to
squelch freedom anytime the opportunity arises; less stable and no less dangerous countries with nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities; an alliance of democratic nations of questionable resolve and a debate at home over our future role in the world with a political party happy to create the impression of diminished resolve with little concern for the long term damage such an impression may cause.

Depressing? Yes. Scary? Most certainly. Beatable? Yes, but only if we get our collective heads out of our asses and start insisting our government protect us and our allies, like Iraq, Georgia, Poland, Taiwan, and Israel. And we must stand up to the Eurotrash who try to paint us like we're still cowboys trying to rob the natives of their land, instead of the Marines on Omaha Beach liberating Europe from the Nazis.

John McCain is the guy to lead us into (and out of) this ever changing violent political landscape. He is the man Thompson describes, "someone with experience and the courage to put his nation’s long term interest above his own." McCain understands it is more important to be right than to be popular. As Fred says, "This election cycle, the traffic in the world is very heavy …and dangerous; it’s no time to give a kid with barely a learner’s permit the keys to the car."

It's no time for Obama, IT'S TIME FOR JOHN MCCAIN!!!!

What is it about lying no one seems to get?

I keep hearing all about antiquated we Americans are for being so obsessed with our politicians sex lives. For the umpteenth time, it isn't the sex we're obsessed with its the fact our politicians keeps lying about it to our faces. John Edwards can screw whoever he wants, but don't get up in front the country and say what a loving family man you are when you don't even know the definition of the term. What's worse is his poor suffering wife played along. It's hard to feel sorry for a woman who finds it far more important that her husband be President than be faithful. Hmmm, I guess she'll be running as Hillary's VP candidate, they're a perfect pair.

David Paulin wrote this great piece about female Democrats are finally mad at a philandering male Democrat. John Edwards has accomplished with one mistress what Bill Clinton couldn't do with half a dozen. What I don't understand is why these female columnists weren't up in arms over Paula, Gennifer, or Monica. The prize quote on all of the is from her highness the queen of hypocrisy Arianna Huffington:

I've long pushed for a giant border fence separating public life and privatelives. But the issue here wasn't Edwards' infidelity, it was his lying directly to the American people. The last thing we need is a sexual purity test for our politicians, but we desperately need political leaders whose word we can trust.

Does this woman realize you lose just a little credibility when you defend Bill & Hillary on their honesty records, but rip Edwards on his? Arianna truly has no shame.
