I'm watching "Can't Buy Me Love" and thinking about how Ronald Miller (Patrick Dempsey) is now Dr. McDreamy and his brother Chuck (Seth Green) is Dr. Evil's son. Paula Abdul did the cheerleader choreography for this movie. How crazy is that? In 20 years, these three people are in completely different places.
I see the commercials for the new lawyer show with Zack from "Saved by the Bell". His boy Mario Lopez is also still doing well as tabloid eye candy. I first fell in love with Reese Witherspoon in "Man in the Moon" along with the guy who played her dad Sam Waterston. Matthew Fox, resident wuss on "Lost", was a furry slacker on "Party of Five" over ten years ago. Ten years ago Jennifer Garner was guest starring on then hubby, Scott Foley's show "Felicity" and now she's a major box office star married to Ben Affleck.
Ten years ago or more I loved Kyra Sedgewick's quirky little character parts in "Singles" and "Something to Talk About" and now I'm thrilled to see her as the leading lady in the "The Closer". Her co-star JK Simmons, "Chief Pope", is probably best known for being the shrink on "Law and Order" for years and most recently for playing the dad in "Juno". Who can forget GW Bailey (Lt. Provenza)from the Police Academy movies and as the goofball security guard in Mannequin.
Twenty years ago you can catch a glimpse of Matt Damon in "Mystic Pizza" in a scene with Julia Roberts. Ten years ago he appeared with her at equal status in "Ocean's Eleven".
And don't even get me started on the cast of "In Living Color". They all exploded in the last 20 years.
So they better now or then? I personally liked Paula better when she was singing. I hated Jennifer Garner on "Felicity" and didn't really care for "Alias", but "13 Going on 30" won me over. I'm glad Reese is box office gold. You could see she would be a big star in "Man in the Moon". No one else would have made Jack McCoy last this long. I will always love Sam Waterston. Matt won me over with Jason Bourne and definitely looks better all grown up. Didn't like Matthew Fox then and don't like him now.
The fact we still know these people says something about their talent and longevity. It'll be fun to see who resurfaces next. Maybe I should tune into the cheesy "90210" remake and find out. LOL
