Fred Thompson: Our Next Defense Secretary

I was in tears after reading this column by Fred Dalton Thompson. He has a firm grasp on the reality of world politics. The reason I started crying was because I was thinking of the prospect of having President who is eager to sit down with the mad man in Iran plotting the end of the nation of Israel, but phobic about sitting down with Sean Hannity, a mere American talk show host. As Fred says, "the next American President is going to face an international landscape that is more difficult and treacherous than we have ever faced", but Obama doesn't seem to get that. Nutjob in Iran isn't difficult, he's not treacherous, he can be reasoned with, but Sean Hannity he's treacherous. He could do really damage to Obama's run at Homecoming King in November.

Here's Fred's round up of the current and future political landscape:

So let’s recap: international terrorism; powerful nation states on a quest for hegemony, whether close to home or further afield and with a willingness to
squelch freedom anytime the opportunity arises; less stable and no less dangerous countries with nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities; an alliance of democratic nations of questionable resolve and a debate at home over our future role in the world with a political party happy to create the impression of diminished resolve with little concern for the long term damage such an impression may cause.

Depressing? Yes. Scary? Most certainly. Beatable? Yes, but only if we get our collective heads out of our asses and start insisting our government protect us and our allies, like Iraq, Georgia, Poland, Taiwan, and Israel. And we must stand up to the Eurotrash who try to paint us like we're still cowboys trying to rob the natives of their land, instead of the Marines on Omaha Beach liberating Europe from the Nazis.

John McCain is the guy to lead us into (and out of) this ever changing violent political landscape. He is the man Thompson describes, "someone with experience and the courage to put his nation’s long term interest above his own." McCain understands it is more important to be right than to be popular. As Fred says, "This election cycle, the traffic in the world is very heavy …and dangerous; it’s no time to give a kid with barely a learner’s permit the keys to the car."

It's no time for Obama, IT'S TIME FOR JOHN MCCAIN!!!!
